Details of mechanical scale insides Click the picture to enlarge ---------------------------------------------------- The dashpot is installed inside the scales Click the picture to enlarge	Simple purpose - Fantastic results The function of the Dashpot is very simple.  It is a device installed inside the scale that causes the indicator needle to come to rest much more quickly.  You know when you put something on a scale & it takes a few seconds for the indicator needle to stop wiggling back & forth?  Well, if you are weighing things all day long, an enormous amount of your day is eaten up just watching an indicator wiggle back & forth.  With a dashpot, the indicator comes to rest MUCH more quickly so the scale gives you the weight in a fraction of the time. Also, the dashpot acts as a "shock absorber."  This helps reduce the wear & tear on the moving parts inside - helping them last longer.
